GPA Tip Detail
Patient Consent
A reminder to all practices to ensure patient consent is obtained in the following circumstances to ensure patient information is kept secure and confidential at all times:
* transfer of patient medical records to another medical practitioner, health service provider or health service
* upon identifiable patient information being used for QA & CPD activities by the Practice
* third party presence during a consultation
* participation in a national/state registers/reminders system.
To provide a formal means that is both time and cost effective, your Practice may include patient consent to be a part of the national/state/territory reminder systems/registers on the Practice?s New Patient Details Form.
GPA has developed an ASSIST plus Fact Sheet to assist Practices in developing their own patient consent form/s. To obtain a copy, go to our Fact Sheets Page or contact the GPA office on 1800 188 088.
